Super Market Tour

This month’s tour focuses on “Healthier Choices on a Budget,” helping participants learn practical strategies for selecting nutritious foods while managing grocery costs.

Participants will take part in a guided, interactive supermarket tour designed to help them make healthier food choices while shopping. During the tour, participants will learn three core practical skills: how to build a balanced plate by filling half of it with fruits and vegetables, how to quickly check food labels for sodium and added sugars, and how to stretch their food dollars while purchasing nutritious foods.

The tour includes brief teaching stops in key sections of the store—including produce, protein foods, and packaged goods—where facilitators demonstrate how to compare products, identify healthier options, and choose affordable ingredients that support long-term health. Participants will also receive a $25 grocery gift card and learn a simple budgeting approach for purchasing produce, protein, and healthy staple foods.

This event is a collaboration between the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, an FQHC, and Healthy Living You, Inc. to provide engaging, interactive nutrition education for underserved communities in Far Rockaway.

This collaboration also allows Healthy Living You to expand its reach and impact by working alongside a trusted community health center. By leveraging shared resources, expertise, and community connections, the partnership increases our capacity to deliver accessible nutrition education to a broader audience.

Three additional supermarket tours are scheduled between April and June 2026, continuing this effort to support healthier eating habits in the community.
